Main tasksThe ‚CICB Center of I ntercultural Competence’ was founded in May 2000 and offers a survey of the topic ‚intercultural competence’ and an overview of assessments and measuring tools of intercultural competence worldwide by presentations, courses and individual consulting. The main task is optimizing intercultural communication skills and assessment abilities. ManagementThe Founder and Chairman of CICB is Thomas Baumer. He graduated in economics and has gained managerial experience during 20 years in international companies. Besides his activities with CICB he is director at the A+O Career Group (assessments, outplacements, international assignment, coaching), and works as a lecturer at universities and administration schools. Until 1999 he worked for Swissair (the Swiss airline); his last position was Division Manager and Deputy General Manager, being responsible for economics, marketing, network management, purchase and sales in the Swissair Training Center (assessment of pilots and management within Swissair and other companies, instruction and training of pilots and flight attendants, Human Aspects Development). On business-related and private trips he visited over 80 countries so far. For many years he has been working on the topic ‚intercultural competence’, he published, beside other works, in 1999 ‚assessing intercultural competence’ in German, and 2001 the Handbook Intercultural Competence (2 volumes; translation into English planned). He founded the CICB in May 2000. Since April 2003, Dr. Jörg Sorg is a member of the management of CICB. His duties are, among others, the departments Seminars and Marketing. He studied at the ETH Zurich and was partner of a venture-capital financed enterprise in the USA and first CEO at the WWF Switzerland. As coach and trainer in renowned companies he gained experiences and findings especially in the topic uniqueness. He is a management consultant and associate of J. T. Sorg & Partner network. TeamCICB works together with several specialists for working and organisational psychology, on a mandatory base as well as in partnership with enterprises. Special formation and experiences are planning, performing and validating complex selection, assessment and development processes, also social competences in working processes, stress, mobbying and computer-based personnel-selection-instruments. The core competences of Marlys Agbloe are coaching, E-Learning, dual career couples und assessment. She is a lawyer, founder of Agbloe Consulting in Zurich and she has experience as human resource manager during many years in several international companies. Mónica Reppas-Schmid was born in bolivia; she is founder of the Swiss company Living Cultures; she is a teacher and holder of the masters degree in Intercultural Relations at Lesley University (USA). Her main professional tasks are preparing and coaching of families during stays abroad as well as training of teachers at international schools. Dominik Neidhart is a top athlete and member of the Alinghi sailing-team (winner America’s Cup 2003 and 2007). In the year 2000 he won, as first Swiss citizen, the Louis-Vuitton-Cup. In the Alinghi team he worked as „Grinder”, one of the most strenuous jobs on board which requires tremenduous power, endurance and mental stability. Now he is concentrating on his medical studies and is active in the Zurich university’s racing team. Philosopher Dr. Gale Prawda is the founder of the Café Philo in Paris and London. She is member of numerous philosophical associations in France, England and the USA, and has a teaching assignment at the „Rouen School of Management”. She is well known through her works and leading discussions in critical thinking, credibility and business ethics. Further lecturers, translators and consultants are working for CICB, currently on a freelance base or as partners on mandate base.
