Main tasks

The CICB Center of Intercultural Competence was founded in May 2000 and offers a survey of the topic intercultural competence and an overview of assessments and measuring tools of intercultural competence worldwide by presentations, courses and individual consulting.

The main task is optimizing intercultural communication skills and assessment abilities by the best possible professional performance and achievment.

A comprehensive description of CICB Center of Intercultural Competence and its activities has been created by Swissinfo. The newspaper La Liberté presents the activities of CICB and CACB (in french language).

Team

CICB works together with several specialists for working and organisational psychology, on a mandatory base as well as in partnership with enterprises. Special formation and experiences are planning, performing and validating complex selection, assessment and development processes, also social competences in working processes, mediation, solutions in situations of stress and mobbying, and computer-based personnel-selection-instruments.

Reppas_thumb Mónica Reppas-Schmid was born in Bolivia; she is founder of the Swiss company Living Cultures; she is a teacher and holder of the masters degree in Intercultural Relations at Lesley University (USA). Her main professional tasks are preparing and coaching of families during stays abroad as well as training of teachers at international schools.
Neidhart_thumb Dominik Neidhart is a top athlete and member of the Alinghi sailing-team (winner America’s Cup 2003 and 2007). In the year 2000 he won, as first Swiss citizen, the Louis-Vuitton-Cup. In the Alinghi team he worked as „Grinder”, one of the most strenuous jobs on board which requires tremenduous power, endurance and mental stability. Now he is still an active sailor, works in a consulting firm and performs as a very successful adviser.
AndreasCanziani_thumb Dr. med. Andreas Canziani is the owner of Ressourcen-Akademie in Zurich / Switzerland. He is a systemic coach, trainer and supervisor for profit- and non-profit-organisations. As a psychiatrist with own doctor's practice he is an expert for job-related stress disorders and health management. He is Managing Director Medical Support at Brainjoin, Member of the Commission of Experts at Swiss Casino Association, Member of the Social Advisory Board of Swiss Casinos, InsightsMDi-Mentor and holding several positions as Medical Advisor, Referee and Assessor.
Prawda_thumb Philosopher Dr. Gale Prawda is the founder of the Café Philo in Paris and London. She is member of numerous philosophical associations in France, England and the USA, and has a teaching assignment at the „Rouen School of Management”. She is well known through her works and leading discussions in critical thinking, credibility and business ethics.

 

Further lecturers, translators and consultants are working for CICB, currently on a freelance base or as partners on mandate base.

Management

IMG 2370a6Thomas Baumer is the founder and director of the CICB Center of Intercultural Competence Ltd.

He studied business economics (graduating as a business economist HWV / FH) and has 20 years of managerial experience in different international companies. As an assessor, he has carried out more than 600 assessments since 2001.

Thomas Baumer is a member of the Association of Management Consultants Switzerland (ASCO), the Swiss Board Forum (Swiss Institute for Board Directors and Managers) and the Swiss Management Association (SMG).

In addition to his activities with the CICB Center of Intercultural Competence, he is a speaker at universities, member Top 100 Excellent Trainers and Keynote-Speaker at Speakers Excellence. He was director of the A+O Career Group (assessments, outplacements, international assignments and coaching) from 2001 to 2008. He is married and father of two children.

He worked for the Swiss airline Swissair as a Division Manager and Deputy General Manager until 1999, and was responsible for business administration, marketing, network management, purchasing and sales at the Swissair Training Center (recruiting pilots and managers for Swissair and other companies, organising courses and further training for pilots and flight attendants, in Human Aspects Development).

In the course of business and personal travel, he has visited more than 120 countries. He is a member of Traveler's Century Club and Senior Research Fellow of the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry (ISPE). His working languages are German, English, French and Spanish, with knowledge in Italian and Russian.

For many years, he has occupied himself with the topic of intercultural competence. In addition to writing other works on the subject, he authored "Evaluating intercultural competence" and the Handbook Intercultural Competence (2 volumes), which is recognised as the standard work on intercultural competence by many experts in the field. He has developped the Prognostic Assessment and coined this concept. In May 2000 he founded the CICB Center of Intercultural Competence.


Sorg_thumbSince April 2003, Dr. Jörg Sorg is member of the Management-Team within CICB, where he is responsible for the the departments Courses and Marketing. He has studied at the ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich). He was partner of a venture-capital financed enterprise in the USA and first CEO of the WWF Switzerland. As Coach and Trainer within numerous companies he gained important awareness and experiences about the topic "uniqueness". He is an executive consultant and director of the network J. T. Sorg & Partner.

Organisation

In May 2010, on the 10-year anniversary of the CICB Center of Intercultural Competence, the CICB Center of Intercultural Competence Ltd. was founded, with the two main areas of activity: Intercultural Cokmpetence and Assessment, Coaching, Outplacement. In 2014 has been added the area Personal Assessment, Counseling and Coaching for Children, Teenagers and Families. The fourth section, Coaching and Psychology Practice, was founded in 2017. In May 2022, the limited company was renamed Kairos Group AG, and the Center for Child Development and Support has been established.
